Core Promise
All data processing in History Master is done locally on your device. We will never collect, upload, or store any of your browsing history records. Your privacy is our top priority.
1. Information We Collect
Short answer: We collect almost no information.
History Master is a completely locally-running browser extension. We:
- Do not collect your browsing history records
- Do not collect information about websites you visit
- Do not collect your personal identity information
- Do not use any trackers or analytics tools
- Do not share data with any third parties
2. Where Data Is Stored
All data is stored on your local device:
- Extension settings: Stored in the browser's local storage (chrome.storage.local)
- API keys: If you configure AI models, API keys are encrypted and stored locally
- Statistics data: Visit statistics are only stored on your device
3. AI Model Usage
When you use AI features:
- OpenAI / Siliconflow: If you choose to use cloud AI models, page titles and URLs will be sent to the corresponding AI service for analysis. These services have their own privacy policies.
- Ollama (Local Model): If you use the local Ollama model, all AI processing is done on your device, and no data leaves your computer.
Recommendation: If you have high privacy requirements, we recommend using the Ollama local model, so all data processing is done on your device.
4. Data Security
We take the following measures to protect your data:
- API keys are stored encrypted
- Extension code is completely open source, accepting community review
- No remote servers are used to store user data
- Regular security audits are conducted
5. Your Rights
You can at any time:
- View and delete all locally stored data in extension settings
- Uninstall the extension to completely delete all related data
- Choose not to use AI features
- Switch to local AI model for maximum privacy protection
6. Open Source Transparency
History Master is an open source project. You can view the complete source code on to verify our privacy commitments.
We welcome security researchers to review our code. If you find any issues, please report them through GitHub Issues.
7. Policy Updates
If we update the privacy policy, we will post the updated content on this page and update the 'Last updated' date at the top of the page. Major changes will be notified to users through extension updates.
